1. Hardop roep ek die HERE aan, hardop smeek ek die HERE.

2. (142:3) Ek stort my klagte uit voor sy aangesig; ek maak voor sy aangesig my nood bekend.

3. (142:4) As my gees in my versmag, dan ken U my pad. Op die pad wat ek moet gaan, het hulle ‘n vangnet vir my gespan.

4. (142:5) Ek sien uit na regs en kyk, maar daar is niemand wat my ken nie; die toevlug is vir my verlore; niemand vra na my nie.

5. (142:6) Ek roep U aan, o HERE! Ek sê: U is my skuilplek, my deel in die land van die lewendes.

6. (142:7) Luister na my smeking, want ek is baie swak; red my van my vervolgers, want hulle is vir my te sterk.

7. (142:8) Lei my siel uit die gevangenis om u Naam te loof. Die regverdiges sal my omring as U aan my goed doen.
