Κεφάλαιο 127

1. ΑΝ ο Κύριος δεν οικοδομήσει οίκο, μάταια κοπιάζουν αυτοί που τον οικοδομούν· αν ο Κύριος δεν φυλάξει πόλη, μάταια αγρυπνεί αυτός που τη φυλάττει.

2. Μάταιο είναι σε σας να σηκώνεστε πρωί, να πλαγιάζετε αργά, τρώγοντας το ψωμί του κόπου σας· ο Κύριος, βέβαια, δίνει ύπνο στον αγαπητό του.

3. Δέστε, κληρονομιά από τον Κύριο είναι τα παιδιά· μισθός δικός του ο καρπός τής κοιλιάς.

4. Όπως τα βέλη στο χέρι τού δυνατού, έτσι και οι γιοι τής νιότης.

5. Μακάριος ο άνθρωπος, που γέμισε τη βελοθήκη του απ' αυτά· αυτοί δεν θα ντροπιαστούν, όταν μιλούν με τους εχθρούς τους στην πύλη.
