Κεφάλαιο 129

1. ΠΟΛΛΕΣ ΦΟΡΕΣ με πολέμησαν από τη νιότη μου, ας πει τώρα ο Ισραήλ·

2. πολλές φορές με πολέμησαν από τη νιότη μου· αλλά, δεν υπερίσχυσαν εναντίον μου.

3. Οι γεωργοί αροτρίασαν επάνω στις πλάτες μου· έσυραν μακρινά τα αυλάκια τους.

4. Δίκαιος, όμως, είναι ο Κύριος· κατέκοψε τα σχοινιά των ασεβών.

5. Ας ντροπιαστούν, και ας στραφούν προς τα πίσω, όλοι εκείνοι που μισούν τη Σιών.

6. Ας γίνουν όπως το χορτάρι στις ταράτσες, που, πριν ξεριζωθεί, ξεραίνεται·

7. από το οποίο ο θεριστής δεν γεμίζει το χέρι του, ούτε αυτός που δένει τα χειρόβολα στον κόρφο του·

8. ώστε, οι διαβάτες δεν θα πουν: Ευλογία Κυρίου επάνω σας· σας ευλογούμε στο όνομα του Κυρίου.
