પ્રકરણ 18

1. અરે! કૂશની નદીઓને પેલે પાર, પાંખોના ફફડાટ વાળા દેશનું દુર્ભાગ્ય!

2. તે દેશ નીલનદીને માગેર્ પાણી પર સરકટનાં વહાણોમાં એલચીઓ મોકલે છે:વેગવાન કાસદો, તમે એ લોકો પાસે જાઓ, જે કદાવર અને સુંવાળી ચામડીવાળાં છે, જેનાથી દૂરનાં અને નજીકના સૌ ડરે છે, જે બળવાન અને પરાક્રમી છે, જેના દેશની ભૂમિને અનેક નદીઓ સીંચે છે.

3. હે જગતના સર્વ રહેવાસીઓ, ને પૃથ્વી પર રહેનારાઓ, જ્યારે યુદ્ધ માટેની મારી ધ્વજા પર્વત પર ઊંચી કરવામાં આવે ત્યારે ધ્યાન આપજો! જ્યારે હું રણશિંગડું વગાડું, ત્યારે સાંભળજો,

4. કારણ, યહોવાએ મને આ પ્રમાણે કહ્યું છે, “ગ્રીષ્મના બળબળતા બેઠા તડકાની જેમ, કાપણીની ઋતુંની ગરમીમાં જામતાં ઝાકળની જેમ, હું શાંત બેઠો મારા નિવાસસ્થાનેથી જોયા કરીશ.

5. પરંતુ પછી, કાપણીની ઋતું પહેલાં, ફૂલ બેસતાં બંધ થયાં હોય અને ફૂલની પાકી દ્રાક્ષ થવા માંડી હોય, ત્યારે ધારિયાથી ડાંખળીઓને કાપી નાખવામાં આવે છે અને વધી ગયેલી ડાળીઓને કાપીને લઇ જાય છે.

6. તેમ એ લોકોને કાપી નાખીને પર્વત પર શિકારી પંખીઓને માટે, જંગલી પશુઓને માટે મૂકી દેવામાં આવશે; અને જંગલી પક્ષી તે પર ઉનાળો કાઢશે. અને જગતનાં સર્વ પશુઓ તે ઉપર શિયાળો કાઢશે.”

7. તે વેળાએ એક પ્રજા, સૈન્યોના દેવ યહોવાના નામ ઉપર, યહોવા માટે અર્પણો લઇને સિયોન પર્વત પરના મંદિરમાં આવશે, તેઓ ઉંચા અને સુંવાળીં ચામડીવાળા લોકો છે, જેમનાથી, દૂર અથવા નજીક રહેતા દરેક ડરે છે, અને જેની ભૂમિને અનેક નદીઓ સીંચે છે.
