પ્રકરણ 20

1. જે વર્ષમાં આશ્શૂરના રાજા સાગોર્ને મોકલેલા સેનાધિપતિએ આશ્દોહ ઉપર ચઢાઇ કરીને તેણે અને જીતી લીધું.

2. તે સમયે જ યહોવાએ આમોસના પુત્ર યશાયાને કહ્યું હતું, “જા તેં પહેરેલા શોકના વસ્રો ઉતારી નાખ અને તારા પગમાંથી જોડા ઉતારી નાખ.” અને તેણે એ પ્રમાણે કર્યુ હતું, અને તે નવસ્ત્રો તથા ઉઘાડે પગે ફરવા લાગ્યો.

3. પછી આશ્દોદ જીતાયું ત્યારે યહોવાએ કહ્યું, “મારો સેવક યશાયા ત્રણ વર્ષ પર્યંત મિસર અને કૂશની જે હાલત થવાની છે તેની એંધાણીરૂંપે વસ્ત્ર વિના ફર્યો છે.

4. તે જ રીતે આશ્શૂરનો રાજા મિસરના અને કૂશના કેદીઓને, જુવાનોને, તેમજ વૃદ્ધોને નવસ્રા અને ઉઘાડા પગે, નગ્નાવસ્થામાં હાંકીને લઇ જશે, જેનાથી મિસરને શરમાવું પડશે.

5. જેમણે જેમણે કૂશ અને મિસર ઉપર મદાર બાંધી બડાશ હાંકી હશે, તેઓ ભોંઠા પડશે અને લજવાશે.”

6. અને તે દિવસે આ કાંઠાનો રહેવાસી કહેશે કે, “જુઓ, આપણું આશાસ્પદ, જ્યાં આશ્શૂરના રાજાના હાથમાંથી બચવા માટે આપણે જેની મદદ લેવા દોડી ગયા હતા, તેના આ હાલ થયા! તો આપણે હવે કેવી રીતે બચીશું?”
