પ્રકરણ 39

1. આ અરસામાં બાલઅદાનનો પુત્ર મેરોદાખ-બાલઅદાન બાબિલનો રાજા હતો. થોડા સમય પછી તેણે હિઝિક્યા પર પોતાની શુભેચ્છાઓ તથા ઉપહારો મોકલાવ્યાં. હિઝિક્યા મરણતોલ માંદગીમાંથી સાજો થયો છે તેવા સમાચાર તેને મળ્યા હતા.

2. હિઝિક્યા ખૂબ રાજી થયો અને તેમને પોતાનો આખો ભંડાર તેમાંના સોનું ચાંદી, સુગંધી દ્રવ્યો અને મૂલ્યવાન તેલથી ભરેલો ખજાનો બધું જ બતાવ્યું તેના મહેલમાં કે આખા રાજ્યમાં એવું કશું જ બાકી રહ્યું નહોતું જે તેમને ન બતાવ્યું હોય.

3. ત્યારે પ્રબોધક યશાયાએ આવીને હિઝિક્યાને પૂછયું, “તે લોકો શું કહે છે? તેઓ ક્યાંથી આવ્યા છે?”હિઝિક્યાએ પ્રત્યુત્તર આપ્યો, “તેઓ દૂર દૂરના દેશ બાબિલથી આવ્યા છે.”

4. યશાયાએ પૂછયું, “એ લોકોએ તારા મહેલમાં શું શું જોયું?”હિઝિક્યાએ કહ્યું, “તે લોકોએ મારા મહેલમાં સર્વસ્વ જોયું છે. મારા ભંડારમાં એવું કશું જ નથી જેં મેં એમને ન બતાવ્યું હોય.”

5. ત્યારે યશાયાએ કહ્યું, “સૈન્યોના દેવ યહોવાનાં વચન સાંભળ, તે કહે છે:

6. ‘એવો વખત આવી રહ્યો છે કે જ્યારે તારા મહેલમાંનુ બધું જ, તારા વડવાઓએ આજ સુધી જે કઇ ભેગું કર્યુ છે તે બધું જ, બાબિલમાં લઇ જવાશે, કશું જ બાકી નહિ રહે.’

7. અને તારા પોતાના જ પુત્રોને લઇ જઇને બાબિલના રાજાના મહેલમાં નોકરો-ખોજાઓ બનાવવામાં આવશે.”

8. હિઝિક્યાએ કહ્યું, “તમે યહોવાના જે વચનો સંભળાવ્યાં તે સારાં છે.” તેણે વિચાર્યુ કે, “હું જ્યાં સુધી જીવીશ ત્યાં સુધી તો શાંતિ અને સુરક્ષા કાયમ રહેશે ને!”
