Luku 124

1. Ellei Herra olisi meidän kanssamme – näin sanokoon Israel –

2. ellei Herra olisi meidän kanssamme, kun ihmiset nousevat meitä vastaan,

3. niin he meidät elävältä nielisivät, kun heidän vihansa syttyy meitä vastaan;

4. niin vedet upottaisivat meidät, virta tulvisi meidän sielumme ylitse;

5. niin tulvisivat kuohuvat vedet meidän sielumme ylitse.

6. Kiitetty olkoon Herra, joka ei antanut meitä heidän hammastensa raadeltaviksi.

7. Meidän sielumme pääsi kuin lintu pyydystäjäin paulasta: paula katkesi, ja me pääsimme pois.

8. Meidän apumme on Herran nimi, hänen, joka on tehnyt taivaan ja maan.
