1. Wathi akuthetha uEfrayim, kwabakho ukothuka; waphakama yena kwaSirayeli, wesuka wazeka ityala ngoBhahali, wafa.

2. Ngoku bongeza ukona, bazenzela imifanekiso etyhidiweyo ngesilivere yabo, bazenzela izithixo njengokuqonda kwabo; ingumsebenzi weengcibi wonke uphela; ababingelelayo baseluntwini, bathi ngayo, bawanga amathole.

3. Ngako oko baya kuba njengelifu lomso, nanjengombethe ophela kwakusasa, njengomququ ophetshethwa sisaqhwithi esandeni, nanjengomsi ophuma ngekroba.

4. Kanti mna ndinguYehova uThixo wakho, kwasezweni laseYiputa; akuyi kwazi thixo ungendim; akukho namnye umsindisi ngaphandle kwam.

5. Mna ndakwazi entlango, ezweni lasekubaleleni.

6. Bathi bakudliswa, bahlutha; bakuhlutha, yaphakama intliziyo yabo; ngenxa yoko bandilibele.

7. Ngoko ndaba njengengonyama kubo, ndabalalela njengengwe endleleni.

8. Ndothi gaga kubo njengebhere ehluthwe amathole ayo, ndiwukrazule umhlehlo wentliziyo yabo, ndibadle khona njengengonyamakazi; amarhamncwa asendle aya kubadlavula.

9. Uzonakalisile, Sirayeli, ngokundichasa kwakho, mna luncedo lwakho.

10. Uphi na ngoku ukumkani wakho, ukuba angakusindisi emizini yakho yonke? Baphi na ngokunje abagwebi bakho abo, wathi, Ndinike ukumkani nabathetheli?

11. Ndikunika ookumkani ndinomsindo, ndibathabathe ngokuphuphuma kwawo.

12. Bubotshiwe ngengxowa ubugwenxa bukaEfrayim, sibekiwe isono sakhe.

13. Inimba yozalayo iyamzela; ungunyana ongenabulumko, kuba engaveli ngexesha elililo emlonyeni wesizalo.

14. Ndiya kubakhulula esandleni selabafileyo, ndiya kubahlawulela ndibakhulule ekufeni. Ziphi na iindyikitya zakho, kufa? Iphi na imbubhiso yakho, ngcwaba? Ukuzohlwaya kusithele emehlweni am.

15. Nokuba yena uya kuba neziqhamo phakathi kwabazalwana bakhe, kuya kuza ulophu lwasempumalanga, umoya kaYehova unyuka entlango, litshe ithende lakhe, wome umthombo wakhe; lowo uya kuphanga ubuncwane beempahla zonke ezinqwenelekayo.

16. ElakwaSamari liya kuziva linetyala, kuba liphikise uThixo walo. Baya kuwa likrele, iintsana zabo zicunyuzwe, nabamithiyo babo baqangqululwe.
