فصل 127

1. اگر خداوند خانه را بنا نکند،بنّایانش زحمت بی‌فایده می‌کشند. اگر خداوند شهر را پاسبانی نکند، پاسبانان بی‌فایده پاسبانی می‌کنند.

2. بی‌فایده است که شما صبح زود برمی‌خیزید و شب دیر می‌خوابید و نان مشقّت را می‌خورید. همچنان محبوبان خویش را خواب می‌بخشد.

3. اینک، پسرانْ میراث از جانب خداوند می‌باشند و ثمرهٔ رَحِم، اجرتی از اوست.

4. مثل تیرها در دست مرد زور آور، همچنان هستند پسران جوانی.

5. خوشابحال کسی که ترکش خود را از ایشان پر کرده است. خجل نخواهند شد، بلکه با دشمنان، در دروازه سخن خواهند راند.
