Kapittel 127

1. Dersom Herren ikke bygger huset, arbeider de forgjeves som bygger på det; dersom Herren ikke vokter byen, våker vekteren forgjeves.

2. Det er forgjeves at I står tidlig op, setter eder sent ned, eter møisommelighets brød; det samme gir han sin venn i søvne.

3. Se, barn er Herrens gave, livsfrukt er en lønn.

4. Som piler i den veldige kjempes hånd, således er ungdoms sønner.

5. Lykksalig er den mann som har sitt kogger fullt av dem; de blir ikke til skamme når de taler med fiender i porten.
