1. Jeg løfter mine øine op til fjellene; hvor skal min hjelp komme fra?

2. Min hjelp kommer fra Herren, himmelens og jordens skaper.

3. Han skal ingenlunde la din fot vakle, din vokter skal ingenlunde slumre.

4. Se, han slumrer ikke og sover ikke, Israels vokter.

5. Herren er din vokter, Herren er din skygge ved din høire hånd.

6. Solen skal ikke stikke dig om dagen, ei heller månen om natten.

7. Herren skal bevare dig fra alt ondt, han skal bevare din sjel.

8. Herren skal bevare din utgang og din inngang fra nu av og inntil evig tid.
