1. Ýahuda patyşasy Ýoşyýanyň ogly Ýehoýakymyň şalygynyň dördünji ýylynda Neriýanyň ogly Baruk Ýermeýanyň dilinden şu sözleri kitaba ýazyp otyrka, Ýermeýa pygamberiň oňa aýdan sözi:

2. «Eý, Baruk! Ysraýyl Hudaýy Reb saňa şeýle diýýär:

3. Sen: „Dat günüme! Çünki Reb derdime gaýgy-hasrat goşdy, ahy-nalamdan ýaňa tapdan düşdüm, rahatlyk tapmaýaryn“ diýdiň».

4. Reb Baruga şeýle diýýär diýip aýt: «Ine, tutuş ýer ýüzünde dikenimi ýykaryn, ekenimi sogrup taşlaryn.

5. Neçün sen özüňe çenden aşa köp soraýarsyň? Sorama, çünki Men bütin adamzadyň başyndan betbagtlyk indererin. Muny Reb aýdýar. Emma nirä gitseň-de, sylag hökmünde janyňy aman saklaryn».
