1. Ascultă-mi glasul, Dumnezeule, cînd gem! Ocroteşte-mi viaţa împotriva vrajmaşului de care mă tem!
2. Păzeşte-mă de uneltirile celor răi, de ceata gălăgioasă a oamenilor nelegiuiţi!
3. ei îşi ascut limba ca o sabie, îşi aruncă vorbele lor amare, ca nişte săgeţi,
4. ca să tragă în ascuns asupra celui nevinovat: trag asupra lui pe neaşteptate, fără nici o frică.
5. ei se îmbărbătează în răutatea lor: se sfătuiesc împreună ca să întindă curse, şi zic: ,,Cine ne va vedea?
6. Pun la cale nelegiuiri, şi zic: ,,Iată-ne gata, planul este făcut!“ O prăpastie este lăuntrul şi inima fiecăruia!
7. Dar Dumnezeu aruncă săgeţi împotriva lor: deodată iată -i loviţi.
8. Limba lor le -a pricinuit căderea; şi toţi cei ce -i văd, clatină din cap.
9. Toţi oamenii sînt cuprinşi de frică, şi mărturisesc: ,,Iată ce a făcut Dumnezeu,“ şi recunosc că aceasta este lucrarea Lui!
10. Cel neprihănit se bucură în Domnul şi în El îşi caută scăparea; toţi cei cu inima fără prihană se laudă că sînt fericiţi.
