1. மறுவருஷம், ராஜாக்கள் யுத்தத்திற்குப் புறப்படும் காலம் வந்தபோது, யோவாப் இராணுவபலத்தைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், அம்மோன் புத்திரரின்தேசத்தைப் பாழ்க்கடித்து ரப்பாவுக்குவந்து அதை முற்றிக்கைபோட்டான்; தாவீதோ எருசலேமில் இருந்துவிட்டான்; யோவாப் ரப்பாவை அடித்துச் சங்கரித்தான்.
2. தாவீது வந்து, அவர்கள் ராஜாவுடைய தலையின்மேல் இருந்த கிரீடத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டான்; அது ஒரு தாலந்து நிறையும் ரத்தினங்கள் பதித்ததுமாயிருந்தது; அது தாவீதின்தலையில் வைக்கப்பட்டது; பட்டணத்திலிருந்து ஏராளமான கொள்ளையையும் கொண்டுபோனான்.
3. பின்பு அதிலிருந்த ஜனங்களை அவன் வெளியே கொண்டுபோய், அவர்களை வாள்களுக்கும், இருப்புப்பாரைகளுக்கும், கோடரிகளுக்கும் உட்படுத்தி; இப்படி அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் பட்டணங்களுக்கெல்லாம் தாவீது செய்து, எல்லா ஜனத்தோடுங்கூட எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பினான்.
4. அதற்குப்பின்பு கேசேரிலே பெலிஸ்தரோடு யுத்தம் உண்டாயிற்று; அப்பொழுது ஊசாத்தியனாகிய சிபெக்காய் இராட்சத புத்திரரில் ஒருவனான சிப்பாயி என்பவனைக் கொன்றான்; அதினால் அவர்கள் வசப்படுத்தப்பட்டார்கள்.
5. திரும்பப் பெலிஸ்தரோடு யுத்தமுண்டாகிறபோது, யாவீரின் குமாரனாகிய எல்க்கானான் காத்தூரானாகிய கோலியாத்தின் சகோதரனான லாகேமியைக் கொன்றான்; அவன் ஈட்டித் தாங்கு நெய்கிறவர்களின் படைமரம் அவ்வளவு பெரிதாயிருந்தது.
6. மறுபடியும் ஒரு யுத்தம் காத்திலே நடந்தபோது, அங்கே நெட்டையனான ஒரு மனுஷன் இருந்தான்; அவனுக்கு அவ்வாறு விரலாக இருபத்துநாலு விரல்கள் இருந்தது, அவனும் இராட்சத சந்ததியாயிருந்து,
7. இஸ்ரவேலை நிந்தித்தான்; தாவீதின் சகோதரனாகிய சிமேயாவின் குமாரன் யோனத்தான் அவனைக் கொன்றான்.
8. காத்தூரிலிருந்த இராட்சதனுக்குப் பிறந்த இவர்கள் தாவீதின் கையினாலும் அவன் சேவகரின் கையினாலும் மடிந்தார்கள்.
