1. پس‌ ایوب‌ در جواب‌ گفت‌:

2. «شخص بی‌قوّت‌ را چگونه‌ اعانت‌ كردی‌؟ و بازوی‌ ناتوان‌ را چگونه‌ نجات‌ دادی‌؟

3. شخص‌ بی‌حكمت‌ را چه‌ نصیحت‌ نمودی‌ و حقیقت‌ امر را به‌ فراوانی‌ اعلام‌ كردی‌؟

4. برای‌ كه‌ سخنان‌ را بیان‌ كردی‌؟ و نفخه‌ كیست‌ كه‌ از تو صادر شد؟

5. ارواح‌ مردگان‌ می‌لرزند، زیر آبها و ساكنان‌ آنها.

6. هاویه‌ به‌ حضور او عریان‌ است‌، و اَبَدّون‌ را سِتری‌ نیست‌.

7. شمال‌ را بر جَوْ پهن‌ می‌كند، و زمین‌ را بر نیستی‌ آویزان‌ می‌سازد.

8. آبها را در ابرهای‌ خود می‌بندد، پس‌ ابر، زیر آنها چاك‌ نمی‌شود.

9. روی‌ تخت‌ خود را محجوب‌ می‌سازد و ابرهای‌ خویش‌ را پیش‌ آن‌ می‌گستراند.

10. به‌ اطراف‌ سطح‌ آبها حّد می‌گذارد تا كران‌ روشنایی‌ و تاریكی‌.

11. ستونهای‌ آسمان‌ متزلزل‌ می‌شود و از عتاب‌ او حیران‌ می‌ماند.

12. به‌ قوّت‌ خود دریا را به‌ تلاطم‌ می‌آورد، و به‌ فهم‌ خویش‌ رَهَب‌ را خُرد می‌كند.

13. به‌ روح‌ او آسمانها زینت‌ داده‌ شد، و دست‌ او مار تیز رو را سفت‌.

14. اینك‌ اینها حواشی‌ طریق‌های‌ او است‌. و چه‌ آواز آهسته‌ای‌ درباره‌ او می‌شنویم‌، لكن‌ رعد جبروت‌ او را كیست‌ كه‌ بفهمد؟»
